How do you read the menu and allergen labels?

In brief

Dishes with allergens have numbers in brackets on the weekly menu. These are allergen codes: (1,6), for example, means gluten and milk. The full legend of codes 1 to 11 is on the meals page. If your child has an allergy or a special diet, please tell us as early as possible, ideally before the first day.

This article is general information. A doctor sets an elimination diet. Start the conversation about how we take it into account with us before the first day.

What do the numbers in brackets mean?

Dishes that contain allergens end with numbers in brackets. These are allergen codes. For example, (1,6) means gluten and milk.

Check the code against the legend below. The numbers do not replace a question when an allergy is serious. In that case, also ask us how the kitchen prevents cross-contact, meaning an allergen passing from one food to another.

Allergen codes

How to read a weekly menu

  1. Find the day and the date

The menu covers a week, and each day has a date, so you can check a particular day.

  2. Compare the codes with the legend

Check the codes next to each dish against the allergens your child must avoid.

  3. Know the two menus

Alongside the regular menu there is a special menu. Before you choose a version for your child, talk to us.

  4. Ask about cross-contact

For a serious allergy, ask how the kitchen prevents allergens passing between foods.

When should I tell you about an allergy?

Tell us about an allergy or a special diet as early as possible, ideally before the first day, so that we can plan meals together.

If a doctor has confirmed the allergy, bring the doctor’s recommendations. We handle health information in line with data protection rules.

What do meals cost, and when do I pay?

Meals are charged for the days your child attends, at the daily rate. Payment is in arrears, by the 5th day of each month. An absence reported in advance is not charged.

Rates and payment rules are on the nursery meals and kindergarten meals pages.

Common questions about the menu

Do I need to bring food for a child with an allergy?

Not usually. Meals are provided during the day. If your child’s diet needs something special, let us agree it before the first day.

How does the special menu differ from the regular one?

Both menus cover the same meals across the week, but the dishes differ. Talk to us before you choose a version.

Do the codes cover every risk?

The codes show the allergens in the legend. For a serious allergy, ask us about cross-contact in the kitchen.
